Get results in days, not monthsResults in days, not monthsAI assistants answer local questions directly, and what they say depends on what they can verify. Oklahoma County has more established advice-led businesses per resident than 89% of counties. That is the context for answer engine optimization (AEO) in Oklahoma County with GetPhound: audited business data, schema markup, conversational local content and monthly monitoring, included in Organic Growth.
The market in numbers
AI Answer Competition Index
77.6/ 100
Ranked 72 among the 1,822 counties with 20,000 or more residents, and 51 within our own 400-market set. The higher the score, the more established businesses there are for each answer to choose between. The method behind the score
The AI Answer Competition Index covers eleven kinds of business that people ask an assistant to recommend: law, dental, medical, real estate, insurance, accounting, remodeling, plumbing and HVAC, roofing, electrical and auto repair. For each county of 20,000 or more residents it counts established locations, those with five or more employees, per 10,000 people. Oklahoma County scores 77.6, which is more crowded than most.
The score is only part of the picture. Oklahoma County is a county with many established recommendation-category businesses for its size, and it is also a county made up of many sizeable towns. Each measure below places it among all counties.
Each percentile places Oklahoma County among the 1,822 counties of 20,000 or more residents, as the share of them with a lower value. Inputs: Census population estimates, the 2017 and 2022 County Business Patterns, SAIPE income estimates and the Building Permits Survey.
What shapes AI visibility here
1,337 established businesses compete across the eleven categories we track in Oklahoma County, 16.5 per 10,000 people and a heavier load than in 89% of counties. Where a category is that busy, being merely present online is not enough; accurate listings, review signals and pages that answer local questions give an AI tool more to work with.
Two other features of the Oklahoma County market matter here. Oklahoma County has 12 communities above 2,500 residents, 7 of them above 10,000, more than 94% of counties. Oklahoma County authorized 80.1 new homes per 10,000 residents in 2025, more than 89% of counties.
For anyone weighing GEO in Oklahoma County, the crowd is the main fact: with this many established names an answer has plenty to choose from, and clear, consistent details do more work than volume.
Home to 808,866 people, Oklahoma County is the 82nd largest of 3,143 U.S. counties, and its headcount has moved +1.5% since the 2020 Census. Employers operate 24,665 locations here across all industries, roughly 30.5 for every 1,000 residents.
Oklahoma City holds about 66% of Oklahoma County's residents, so it matters most, but the rest of the county (Edmond, Midwest City and Del City) asks about its own town names, and each one is a separate local answer.
Who shares the answer
The eleven rows are the recommendation categories. Each shows established locations in Oklahoma County and sets them against the median county, so 2.0x would mean twice the typical number per resident.
Bars give each category's established locations (five or more employees) per 10,000 residents as a multiple of the middle county among those ranked; the dark tick is 1.0x. Change is measured on all locations in the category, not just established ones. Source: Census County Business Patterns (2017, 2022), which says nothing about AI behavior or search volume. See the method
Law offices lead the field for crowding in Oklahoma County: 193 established locations, 3.3x a typical county, with the category as a whole down 2.4% since 2017. Roofing contractors (38 established locations, 3.0x) and real estate agents and brokers (35 established locations, 2.1x) follow, also denser than a typical county. Residential remodelers are the least crowded category here at 0.8x typical (36 established locations), which leaves more room for a well-documented business to be noticed.
The fastest growth is in residential remodelers: locations of every size rose 41.7% since 2017, to 187, so new names keep appearing. Auto repair shops shrank instead, losing 12.1% of their locations to land at 167. For firm size, look at physicians offices: 60 locations employ 20 people or more.
A word of caution: this table counts businesses. It does not measure how frequently an assistant is asked about any category, which businesses it names, or how many people use one. A crowded category calls for careful preparation and a quiet one for early action, but neither is a forecast.

Nearest neighbors come from our 400 markets, compared on size, income, score, firm size, growth and established share. See the sources above.
On the index, Pinellas County, FL is Oklahoma County's nearest neighbor: 78.0 against 77.6. At the other extreme sits Providence County, RI, scoring 63.8. The mix of firm sizes differs too: 4.2% of Brevard County, FL's advice-led locations have 20 or more employees, against 5.4% here. A similar score means a comparable number of established competitors, not a comparable result.
Demand signal
Bars show new housing units approved by building permits. Source: Census Bureau Building Permits Survey, annual county files, with a same-months comparison for this year. An approval is not a completed home.
Approvals rose from 5,500 units in 2021 to 6,481 in 2025 (+18%), which is 80.1 per 10,000 residents and a rate above 89% of counties. Year to date (January through August), approvals stand at 4,148, compared with 4,792 a year ago, a change of -13.4%.
Among businesses tied to building, roofing contractors (3.0x typical) and real estate agents and brokers (2.1x typical) are the most crowded in Oklahoma County. Permits show where new customers are coming from; GEO does not wait for them to arrive, and content for new homeowners is easier to publish before demand peaks.
Where the customers are
The largest places in Oklahoma County by resident count. For answer engine optimization (AEO) in Oklahoma County, the work is place by place: each service you offer can have content for each town you serve.
| Community | Slice of the county's population | Residents in 2023 (estimate) |
|---|---|---|
| Oklahoma City (part) | 66% | 535,043 |
| Edmond | 12% | 98,103 |
| Midwest City | 7% | 58,086 |
| Del City | 3% | 21,312 |
| Bethany | 3% | 20,369 |
| Choctaw | 2% | 12,240 |
Figures are Census Bureau population estimates. Cities, towns and census-designated places all count as places, and a city that straddles a county line is shown for its Oklahoma County part only.
The process
We review your NAP details and your website details across Google, Apple Maps, Yelp and the other places AI engines look, so they all agree.
We implement schema markup on the pages that matter most: Review, LocalBusiness and FAQ schema, so engines can read who you are, where you work and what you offer.
We create plain-language, hyper-local content that responds to the questions customers put to assistants about your services in your service area.
Each month we measure your visibility across Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and ChatGPT, then change course based on what moves. Reporting includes knowledge panels, citations, AI visibility, platform traffic and local rankings.
What is in the work

We make your address, name and phone details agree on Google, Apple Maps, Yelp and each other listing engines read.
Written for the questions people ask

Volume and sentiment

The groundwork
A clean technical base lets search engines and AI engines read your pages without trouble.
ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overviews
Visibility is tested monthly in Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and ChatGPT, with reports on citations, AI visibility, knowledge panels, platform traffic and local rankings.
None of this stands alone: it is part of Organic Growth, with local SEO and Google Maps work beside it and a managed website on Gold and Platinum. If you need customers while this builds, our paid ads team manages Meta (Facebook and Instagram), Bing and Google campaigns.
Check the math
GEO is part of the monthly Organic Growth plans, so the useful question is how many new customers a plan has to bring in to cover its cost. Customers from AI answers, search and Google Maps all count, and nobody can promise any of them.
Fees
You do not buy GEO separately, because it is included in all three Organic Growth plans below. You can start with no setup fee and leave whenever you like. Book a call with our CEO to compare plans.
FAQ
GEO is included in Organic Growth rather than priced on its own. It is part of Silver ($1,495 a month), Gold ($2,495) and Platinum ($3,495). A website, custom built and fully managed, comes with Gold and Platinum. None of the plans has a setup fee or a contract.
More than most. Oklahoma County comes in at 77.6 on our AI Answer Competition Index, sitting at 72nd among the 1,822 counties we rank, and 51st within our 400-market set. Law offices are where the field is most crowded, at 3.3 times the typical county. The index counts businesses and says nothing about AI behavior.
Not required. The first steps are an audit, schema on your important pages and fresh local content. A rebuild is optional: Gold and Platinum come with a custom-built, fully managed website if you want one.
It would be dishonest to promise an AI mention, so we do not. We aim for accurate, consistent information that matches wherever an engine looks. As engines gather, validate and favor consistent information, results improve over time, though we cannot say how long that takes. You see monthly test results from Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT and Perplexity.
It means your name, address, phone number and details like hours and services are identical on Google, Apple Maps, Yelp and every other source an engine might read. The first step in our process is an audit of exactly that, since conflicting details make it harder for engines to describe you accurately.
The two work together: GEO does not replace SEO, and Organic Growth delivers both. Technical SEO is part of the GEO work itself, and the same accurate data, solid pages and reviews that help you in search give AI engines more to draw on. Our Organic Growth plans cover both.
Eleven categories feed the index, all of them businesses people ask assistants to recommend. The most numerous in Oklahoma County are physicians offices (275), dentists (232) and law offices (193), and relative to a typical county the busiest are law offices (3.3x) and roofing contractors (3.0x).
They are two separate things. Some ChatGPT users on the Free and lower-priced plans now see labeled, sponsored ads that advertisers buy in a self-serve Ads Manager, with targeting by country and context. The ads do not affect the answers, and measuring them is still maturing. GEO is the unpaid work behind accurate answers about your business.
GEO stands for generative engine optimization: preparing your online presence for AI engines like Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT and Perplexity. Some people call it AEO, answer engine optimization. These engines answer a question directly, pulling from structured data, business listings and trusted content. It is described as the next evolution of SEO and complements it rather than replacing it.
