AI Answer Competition Index
68.6/ 100
Ranked 263 among the 1,822 counties that have 20,000 or more people, and 170 within our own 400-market set. Higher scores mean more established competitors per resident. How the score is built
The AI Answer Competition Index covers eleven kinds of business that people ask an assistant to recommend: law, dental, medical, real estate, insurance, accounting, remodeling, plumbing and HVAC, roofing, electrical and auto repair. For each county of 20,000 or more residents it counts established locations, those with five or more employees, per 10,000 people. Atlantic County scores 68.6, which is more crowded than most.
Look past the headline number and two features of Atlantic County emerge: it is a county where larger firms, those with 20 or more employees, hold an outsized share of advice-led locations, and it is a county made up of many sizeable towns. Each measure below places it among all counties.
Each percentile places Atlantic County among the 1,822 counties of 20,000 or more residents, as the share of them with a lower value. Drawn from: Census Bureau population estimates, County Business Patterns for 2017 and 2022, income estimates from the Census Bureau and the Building Permits Survey.
The AI answer picture
Atlantic County has 61 larger locations (20 or more employees) among its advice-led businesses, 6.4% of the total and more than in 86% of counties. Firms that size tend to have budgets and several offices; independents competing with them gain by being just as consistent, with the same name, phone number and address everywhere AI engines look.
The headline is not the only thing worth reading. Atlantic County has 12 communities above 2,500 residents, 4 of them above 10,000, more than 94% of counties. Advice-led locations in Atlantic County changed -5.1% from 2017 to 2022, slower than in 80% of counties.
When it comes to GEO in Atlantic County, larger firms can mean several locations, and consistent facts at each address are what let an independent keep up.
Home to 275,213 people, Atlantic County is the 260th largest of 3,143 U.S. counties, and its headcount has moved +0.2% since the 2020 Census. Employers operate 6,210 locations here across all industries, roughly 22.6 for every 1,000 residents.
The larger places in Atlantic County are Atlantic City (38,464), Pleasantville (20,613), Hammonton (14,797), Somers Point (10,465) and Ventnor City (9,226). Local questions tend to name a town, so a business serving several of them gains from content and consistent details for each. RankGuarantee™ landing pages, included in every Organic Growth plan, are how that content gets built at volume.
Outside any named place (a city, town or census-designated place) live 129,537 of Atlantic County's residents (47%), and their questions often skip the town name entirely and ask for something "near me" instead.
Who else could be named
Every row is one of the eleven recommendation categories: established locations (five or more employees) in Atlantic County, how that compares with the typical county, how the category as a whole has changed since 2017, and how many locations are large employers.
Each bar shows a category's established locations (five or more employees) per 10,000 residents as a multiple of the middle county we rank; the dark tick is 1.0x. Change is measured on all locations in the category, not just established ones. Counts come from County Business Patterns (2017, 2022) and are no measure of AI mentions or search volume. How we calculate this
The busiest category in Atlantic County is physicians offices, with 114 established locations at 1.9x the density of a typical county, with the category as a whole down 14.4% since 2017. More comparable names means more weight on the details that tell them apart. The next busiest categories are real estate agents and brokers (10 established locations, 1.8x) and law offices (30 established locations, 1.5x). The lightest field belongs to auto repair shops: 20 established locations, 0.8x the typical density, so an answer in that category has fewer names to weigh.
The fastest growth is in residential remodelers: locations of each size rose 28.9% since 2017, to 125, so new names keep appearing. The one category moving backward is dentists, down 20.6% to 77 locations. The biggest employers sit in physicians offices, where 23 locations have 20 or more employees.
Remember what a count can and cannot say. It tells you how many established businesses are in each category. It says nothing about AI mentions, search volume or timing, and nobody can promise a mention in an AI answer.
Where demand is heading
The permits shown are authorizations for new housing units. From the Building Permits Survey (Census Bureau): annual county data plus matching January-to-August totals. Approved units may not be built yet.
From a high of 804 units in 2021, approvals in Atlantic County dropped to 656 in 2025, about 18% less, and the 2025 rate of 23.8 per 10,000 residents is below 56% of counties. The 2026 year-to-date count is 436 units to 396 last year, +10.1%.
Among businesses tied to building, real estate agents and brokers (1.8x typical) and electrical contractors (1.4x typical) are the most crowded in Atlantic County. New households arrive without providers they trust, and a business whose details already match across the places AI engines read is easier for them to find described.

Communities
Population by place, from the Census Bureau's latest estimates. Local questions generally name a town, so each of these is a separate context, and work on answer engine optimization (AEO) in Atlantic County can be written for any of them.

How it works
We compare your address, name and phone details and your site information across Google, Apple Maps, Yelp and the other sources AI engines read, so everything matches.
We add schema markup on your most important pages: LocalBusiness schema, FAQ schema and Review schema, so AI engines can read your details as structured facts.
We publish plain-language, hyper-local content that speaks to what your customers actually ask about your services in your service area.
Each month we measure your visibility across Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT and Perplexity, then change course based on what moves. Reporting includes citations, AI visibility, knowledge panels, platform traffic and local rankings.

The groundwork is technical SEO: pages that load, can be crawled and carry the structure the rest of GEO adds to.

GEO sits next to our other work: local SEO, Google Maps optimization and, on the Gold and Platinum plans, a fully managed website. Want leads sooner? We also manage Meta (Facebook and Instagram), Bing and Google ads.
Do the math
GEO is part of the monthly Organic Growth plans, so the useful question is how many new customers a plan has to bring in to cover its cost. Customers from AI answers, search and Google Maps all count, and nobody can promise any of them.
Pricing
There is no separate price for GEO, since each of the three Organic Growth plans below includes it. None of the plans has a setup fee or a contract. Ask our CEO which plan fits.
Questions
Pricing is flat and monthly, and GEO is part of the Organic Growth plans rather than as a separate line item: $1,495 for Silver, $2,495 for Gold and $3,495 for Platinum. RankGuarantee™ local landing pages cost $495 a month on their own and are included in all three. Plans are month to month with no setup fee.
No, they are separate. Advertisers can buy labeled, sponsored ads in ChatGPT through a self-serve Ads Manager, and some Free and lower-priced plan users see them. Measurement is still maturing, and the ads do not influence the answers. GEO is the unpaid work of keeping your information accurate and easy to use.
There is no honest timeline, and we will not invent one. AI engines gather, validate and favor consistent information gradually, so results depend on how complete your data is, how crowded your category is (physicians offices run 1.9x a typical county in Atlantic County) and what engines already hold. Each month we test visibility and adjust the work.
Whichever you serve. Atlantic County has 12 places of 2,500 or more residents, led by Atlantic City, Pleasantville, Hammonton, Somers Point and Ventnor City. GEO content is hyper-local, and RankGuarantee™ landing pages (25 a month on Silver, 50 on Gold and 100 on Platinum) give each service its own page in each place you cover.
GEO, short for generative engine optimization, is optimizing your online presence for AI engines such as Perplexity, ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews. Some people call it AEO, answer engine optimization. These engines answer a question directly, pulling from structured data, business listings and trusted content. It is described as the next evolution of SEO and complements it rather than replacing it.
According to the index, Atlantic County is more crowded than most counties: it scores 68.6, which is 263rd out of 1,822 counties of 20,000 or more people and 170th of our 400 markets. The busiest category is physicians offices, at 1.9x a typical county. A score is a headcount of established competitors, not a forecast of what any engine will do.
You can cancel anytime; there is no contract or setup fee. Each plan is billed month to month at a flat rate, and we take only one business per category per city.
Usually not. We start by auditing your details and putting structured data on your existing key pages. Should you want a new site, Gold and Platinum include a custom-built, fully managed website with hosting and maintenance.
We do not promise AI mentions, since nobody controls them. The goal is accurate, consistent facts that match across every source an engine reads. As engines gather, validate and favor consistent information, results improve over time, though we cannot say how long that takes. You see monthly test results from Perplexity, ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews.

Where the data comes from
Public Census Bureau data is the only source behind this page; one formula covers every county, so Atlantic County is judged by the same yardstick as anywhere else. The index counts businesses; it does not measure AI behavior, mentions or search volume, and we use no client account data or GetPhound results.
