Snapshot
AI Answer Competition Index
71.4/ 100
Placed 190 among the 1,822 counties that have 20,000 or more people, and 125 within our own 400-market set. Higher scores mean more established competitors per resident. How the score is built
We built this index around eleven categories where someone is likely to ask an assistant who to call (law, dental, medical, real estate, insurance, accounting, remodeling, plumbing and HVAC, roofing, electrical, auto repair). Each county of 20,000 or more residents gets a 0 to 100 score for how many established locations, with five or more employees, share its population. Cuyahoga County scores 71.4, which is more crowded than most.
The score is only part of the picture. Cuyahoga County is a county where the headcount is flat or falling, and it is also a county made up of many sizeable towns. Each measure below places it among all counties.
Each percentile places Cuyahoga County among the 1,822 counties of 20,000 or more residents, as the share of them with a lower value. Drawn from: Census Bureau population estimates, the 2017 and 2022 County Business Patterns, SAIPE income estimates and the Building Permits Survey.
What shapes AI visibility here
A shrinking population (-2.5% since the 2020 Census, 1,233,088 residents) means Cuyahoga County cannot count on newcomers to refill the customer base. Staying visible and accurate wherever people ask, including AI assistants, is how an established business holds on to its share.
Two more details round out the picture. Cuyahoga County has 43 communities above 2,500 residents, 34 of them above 10,000, more than 99% of counties. 8.3% of the advice-led locations in Cuyahoga County have 20 or more employees, more than in 95% of counties.
When it comes to GEO services for Cuyahoga County businesses, a shrinking market makes every customer count, and being described correctly is part of keeping them.
Cleveland (362,656), Parma (78,951), Lakewood (49,337), Euclid (48,212) and Strongsville (45,511) lead the list of places in Cuyahoga County. Each is a separate local context, which is why GEO for a multi-town business is built place by place, with pages and data for every area it serves.
Where demand is heading
Bars show new housing units approved by building permits. Source: Census Bureau Building Permits Survey, annual county files, with a same-months comparison for this year. Approved units may not be built yet.
Permits peaked at 1,685 units in 2024 and came in at 1,368 in 2025, roughly 19% lower. Even so, 2025 equals 11.1 units for every 10,000 residents, which is below 79% of counties. Through the first eight months of 2026, 948 units were approved against 556 in the same months of 2025 (+70.5%).
The construction-linked categories with the most established competitors in Cuyahoga County are real estate agents and brokers (2.2x typical) and insurance agencies (1.3x typical). Rising permits bring people who need a roofer or an electrician and have no one to ask, and falling permits shift questions toward repair and replacement. Either way, accurate local information is what GEO works on.
Who else could be named
The eleven rows are the recommendation categories. Each shows established locations in Cuyahoga County and sets them against the median county, so 2.0x would mean twice the typical number per resident.
Bars give each category's established locations (five or more employees) per 10,000 residents as a multiple of the middle county among those ranked; the dark tick is 1.0x. Change is measured on all locations in the category, not just established ones. Source: Census County Business Patterns (2017, 2022), which says nothing about AI behavior or search volume. How we calculate this
The busiest category in Cuyahoga County is law offices, with 238 established locations at 2.7x the density of a typical county, with the category as a whole down 7.3% since 2017. More comparable names means more weight on the details that tell them apart. The next most crowded categories are real estate agents and brokers (57 established locations, 2.2x) and accounting and CPA firms (115 established locations, 1.8x). The lightest field belongs to electrical contractors: 97 established locations, 0.8x the typical density, so an answer in that category has fewer names to weigh.
Residential remodelers added the most new competition, 26.9% more locations of all sizes than in 2017 (335 now). Dentists contracted by 13.1% since 2017, to 543 locations. For firm size, look at physicians offices: 109 locations employ 20 people or more.
Remember what a count can and cannot say. It tells you how many established businesses are in each category. It says nothing about AI mentions, search volume or timing, and nobody can promise a mention in an AI answer.

On the index, Erie County, NY is Cuyahoga County's nearest neighbor: 70.3 against 71.4. Milwaukee County, WI is the most different of the six, at 60.3. One visible difference is firm size, with 6.5% of advice-led locations in New Haven County, CT at 20 or more employees against 8.3% in Cuyahoga County. These are neighbors in competition only; they say nothing about what to expect from AI engines.
Communities
Population by place, from the Census Bureau's latest estimates. Local questions usually name a town, so each of these is a separate context, and work on answer engine optimization (AEO) in Cuyahoga County can be written for any of them.
| City or town | Slice of the county's population | 2023 population estimate |
|---|---|---|
| Cleveland | 29% | 362,656 |
| Parma | 6% | 78,951 |
| Lakewood | 4% | 49,337 |
| Euclid | 4% | 48,212 |
| Strongsville | 4% | 45,511 |
| Cleveland Heights | 4% | 43,908 |
Figures are Census Bureau population estimates. A place can be a city, a town or a census-designated place, and a city that straddles a county line is shown for its Cuyahoga County part only.
The process
We review your address, name and phone details and your site details across Google, Apple Maps, Yelp and the other sources AI engines read, so every source tells the same story.
We install schema markup on your most important pages: FAQ, LocalBusiness and Review schema, so your business is described in a format machines read well.
We create plain-language, hyper-local content that answers the questions people ask about your services in your service area.
Each month we test your visibility across Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT and Perplexity, then adjust the plan to the results. You see knowledge panels, citations, AI visibility, platform traffic and local rankings.

None of this stands alone: it is part of Organic Growth, with local SEO and Google Maps work beside it and a managed website on Gold and Platinum. Paid campaigns on Meta (Facebook and Instagram), Bing and Google are available separately for faster leads.
Check the math
The plans are flat monthly fees, which makes the payback arithmetic simple: what one new customer is worth to you, your margin and your close rate give the customers a month a plan has to deliver.
Plans
GEO comes inside the Organic Growth plans, not as a separate purchase. None of the plans has a setup fee or a contract. Book a call with our CEO to compare plans.
Questions we hear
The fee is flat and billed monthly, and GEO is built into the Organic Growth plans instead of being priced on its own: $1,495 for Silver, $2,495 for Gold and $3,495 for Platinum. RankGuarantee™ local landing pages cost $495 a month on their own and are included in all three. Everything is month to month, with no setup fee and no contract.
GEO, short for generative engine optimization, is optimizing your online presence for AI engines such as Perplexity, ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews. Some people call it AEO, answer engine optimization. They answer directly instead of listing links, drawing on structured data, business listings and trusted content. It is described as the next evolution of SEO and complements it rather than replacing it.
The ones you serve. Cuyahoga County has 43 places of 2,500 or more residents, led by Cleveland, Parma, Lakewood, Euclid and Strongsville. GEO content is hyper-local, and RankGuarantee™ landing pages (25, 50 or 100 a month depending on the Organic Growth plan) put each service on its own page in each place you cover.
More than most. Cuyahoga County registers 71.4 on our AI Answer Competition Index, ranking 190th among the 1,822 counties we rank, and 125th within our 400-market set. Law offices lead the field for crowding, at 2.7 times the typical county. The index counts established businesses, not AI behavior.
No. It begins with the audit, moves to schema on key pages and then to local content. A rebuild is optional: Gold and Platinum come with a custom-built, fully managed website if you want one.
The work covers structured data on your key pages (Review, LocalBusiness and FAQ schema), consistent business details across Google, Apple Maps, Yelp and more, conversational hyper-local content, review and reputation work, technical SEO, and ongoing monitoring across Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT and Perplexity. Reports cover AI visibility, citations, platform traffic, knowledge panels and local rankings.
A timeframe would be a guess, since engines decide how quickly they trust new or corrected information. The audit, schema and content work happen in a defined order, and each month after that we check Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT and Perplexity and change course where needed. Law offices are crowded in Cuyahoga County, which calls for thoroughness but says nothing about speed.
We do not promise AI mentions, because nobody controls them. The goal is accurate, consistent facts that match across every source an engine reads. Results improve over time as engines favor consistent information, and we give no schedule. You see monthly test results from Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT and Perplexity.
No, they are separate. Some ChatGPT users on the Free and lower-priced plans now see labeled, sponsored ads that advertisers buy in a self-serve Ads Manager, with targeting by country and context. Measurement is still maturing, and the ads do not influence the answers. GEO is the unpaid work behind accurate answers about your business.
