Get results in days, not monthsResults in days, not monthsWhen someone asks ChatGPT, Perplexity or a Google AI Overview for a name, the answer comes from information the engine can find and trust. DeKalb County has 12 places of 2,500 or more residents, each asking its own local questions, which sets the terms for AI search optimization in DeKalb County. Below is the market data, then what GEO covers and what it costs.
The market in numbers
AI Answer Competition Index
56.0/ 100
Placed 624 among the 1,822 counties that have 20,000 or more people, and 325 within our own 400-market set. A higher score means more established businesses are sharing the same pool of AI answers. The method behind the score
We built this index around eleven categories where someone is likely to ask an assistant who to call (law, dental, medical, real estate, insurance, accounting, remodeling, plumbing and HVAC, roofing, electrical, auto repair). Every county of 20,000 or more residents gets a 0 to 100 score for how many established locations, with five or more employees, share its population. DeKalb County scores 56.0, which is close to the middle of the pack.
Beyond the score, DeKalb County is a county made up of many sizeable towns and a county where advice-led businesses are mostly tiny, with fewer than five employees. Each measure below places it among all counties.
Percentiles compare DeKalb County with all 1,822 counties of 20,000 or more residents: a percentile is the share of those counties with a lower value. Drawn from: Census population estimates, the 2017 and 2022 County Business Patterns, SAIPE income estimates and the Building Permits Survey.
The AI answer picture
Many towns, many questions: DeKalb County counts 12 communities that clear 2,500 residents and 9 that clear 10,000, a bigger spread than 94% of counties offer. A plumber in Stonecrest and a plumber in the next town over are separate answers, so GEO for a business that serves several of them means local content and consistent details for each.
Two more details round out the picture. Only 28.3% of the advice-led locations in DeKalb County have five or more employees, a lower share than in 87% of counties. Median household income in DeKalb County is $77,722, above 75% of counties.
When it comes to GEO in DeKalb County, think town by town: each place deserves its own local content and consistent details.
Size matters for context: 762,992 residents put DeKalb County 88th among 3,143 U.S. counties, and the population has changed -0.2% since the 2020 Census. All industries together have 18,329 employer locations, or 24.0 per 1,000 people.
55% of the county, about 419,989 people, lives outside any named place, where "near me" and county-wide questions count for as much as a city name.
Your competition
Each row is one of the eleven recommendation categories: established locations (five or more employees) in DeKalb County, how that compares with the typical county, how the category as a whole has changed since 2017, and how many locations are large employers.
Bars give each category's established locations (five or more employees) per 10,000 residents as a multiple of the middle county among those ranked; the dark tick is 1.0x. Change covers each employer location in the category, of any size. Counts come from County Business Patterns (2017, 2022) and are no measure of AI mentions or search volume. Method
The busiest category in DeKalb County is law offices, with 144 established locations at 2.6x the density of a typical county, with the category as a whole up 10% since 2017. More comparable names means more weight on the details that tell them apart. The next most crowded categories are real estate agents and brokers (29 established locations, 1.8x) and physicians offices (198 established locations, 1.2x). The lightest field belongs to plumbing, heating and air-conditioning contractors: 46 established locations, 0.5x the typical density, so an answer in that category has fewer names to weigh.
Residential remodelers added the most new competition, 43.4% more locations of all sizes than in 2017 (208 now). Physicians offices contracted by 13.5% since 2017, to 423 locations. Physicians offices account for the most large employers, with 58 locations at 20 or more employees.
A word of caution: this table counts businesses. It does not measure how often an assistant is asked about any category, which businesses it names, or how many people use one. A crowded category calls for careful preparation and a quiet one for early action, but neither is a forecast.
New construction
Each bar counts housing units approved for construction. From the Building Permits Survey (Census Bureau): annual county data plus matching January-to-August totals. An approval is not a completed home.
Permits peaked at 2,862 units in 2021 and came in at 1,312 in 2025, roughly 54% lower. Even so, 2025 equals 17.2 units for every 10,000 residents, which is below 68% of counties. Through the first eight months of 2026, 511 units were approved against 684 in the same months of 2025 (-25.3%).
The construction-linked categories with the most established competitors in DeKalb County are real estate agents and brokers (1.8x typical) and roofing contractors (0.9x typical). Rising permits bring people who need a roofer or an electrician and have no one to ask, and falling permits shift questions toward repair and replacement. Either way, accurate local information is what GEO works on.

DeKalb County (56.0) looks most like Providence County, RI, which scores 63.8. At the other extreme sits Brevard County, FL, scoring 66.8. The mix of firm sizes differs too: 3.9% of Hudson County, NJ's advice-led locations have 20 or more employees, against 4.7% here. A similar score means a comparable number of established competitors, not a comparable result.

How it works
We compare your NAP details and your website details across Google, Apple Maps, Yelp and the other sources AI engines pull from, so they all agree.
We implement schema markup on the pages that matter most: FAQ, LocalBusiness and Review markup, so your business is described in a format machines read well.
We write plain-language, hyper-local content that responds to the questions customers put to assistants about what you do and where you do it.
Every month we check your visibility across Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT and Perplexity, then adapt the work to what we find. Reporting includes citations, AI visibility, knowledge panels, platform traffic and local rankings.
What you get
Markup engines can read
Key pages get FAQ, LocalBusiness and Review schema markup, so your business is described in a format machines handle well.
Name, address and phone
Conflicting listings are found and fixed, so your details read the same on Google, Apple Maps, Yelp and beyond.
Hyper-local and conversational
Hyper-local content answers real customer questions in plain, conversational language, focused on DeKalb County and its neighboring areas.
Volume and sentiment
AI engines scan review volume and sentiment, so we help you earn and answer reviews on a steady schedule.
SEO underneath
A clean technical base lets search engines and AI engines read your pages without trouble.
Tested every month
Visibility is tested monthly in Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and ChatGPT, with reports on knowledge panels, citations, AI visibility, platform traffic and local rankings.
None of this stands alone: it is part of Organic Growth, with local SEO and Google Maps work beside it and a managed website on Gold and Platinum. If you need customers while this builds, our paid ads team manages Meta (Facebook and Instagram), Bing and Google campaigns.
Do the math
The plans are flat monthly fees, which makes the payback arithmetic simple: what one new customer is worth to you, your margin and your close rate give the customers a month a plan has to deliver.
What it costs
GEO is not sold on its own: it is included in every Organic Growth plan below. Every plan is month to month, with no setup fee and no contract. Talk to our CEO about the options.
FAQ
Pricing is flat and monthly, and GEO is built into the Organic Growth plans rather than being priced on its own: $1,495 for Silver, $2,495 for Gold and $3,495 for Platinum. RankGuarantee™ local landing pages cost $495 a month on their own and are included in all three. Everything is month to month, with no setup fee and no contract.
Reviews feed into it. Because engines scan review volume and sentiment, reputation work is part of GEO, plus LocalBusiness, Review and FAQ schema. No mention can be guaranteed, though a healthy, current set of reviews gives engines more to work with.
They are different things. GEO is unpaid work: helping engines find accurate information about your business. ChatGPT advertising is a separate, paid test: sponsored, labeled ads shown to some users on the Free and lower-priced plans, bought through a self-serve Ads Manager and targeted by country and context, not by keyword. The ads do not alter the answers, and measurement is still maturing.
A timeframe would be a guess, because engines decide how quickly they trust new or corrected information. The work follows a set order: audit, schema, content, and each month after that we check Perplexity, ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews and change course where needed. Crowding in law offices across DeKalb County is a reason for care, not a forecast.
About average. DeKalb County scores 56.0 on our AI Answer Competition Index, sitting at 624th among the 1,822 counties we rank, and 325th within our 400-market set. Law offices are where the field is busiest, at 2.6 times the typical county. Remember that the index measures businesses, not AI behavior.
It would be dishonest to promise an AI mention, so we do not. The goal is accurate, consistent facts that match across each source an engine reads. Results improve over time as engines favor consistent information, and we give no schedule. You see monthly test results from Perplexity, ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews.
You get schema markup (Review, LocalBusiness and FAQ), matching listings across Google, Apple Maps, Yelp and others, conversational content written for local questions, reviews and reputation work, technical SEO, and monitoring across ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and Perplexity. Reports cover AI visibility, citations, platform traffic, knowledge panels and local rankings.
GEO stands for generative engine optimization: preparing your online presence for AI engines such as Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT and Perplexity. Others use the term AEO, or answer engine optimization. They answer directly rather than listing links, drawing on structured data, business listings and trusted content. GEO is the next step beyond SEO and complements it; it does not replace it.
No. The first steps are an audit, schema on your important pages and fresh local content. A rebuild is optional: the Gold and Platinum plans include a fully managed, custom-built site.
