Get results in days, not monthsResults in days, not monthsPassaic County has 13 places of 2,500 or more residents, each asking its own local questions. That is the setting for any business in Passaic County that wants an AI engine to describe it accurately, and it is why our GEO work covers the audit, the schema, the local content and the monthly testing, all included in every Organic Growth plan.

AI Answer Competition Index
60.7/ 100
Ranked 477 among the 1,822 counties that have 20,000 or more people, and 279 within our own 400-market set. The higher the score, the more established businesses there are for each answer to choose between. How the score is built
We built this index around eleven categories where someone is likely to ask an assistant who to call (law, dental, medical, real estate, insurance, accounting, remodeling, plumbing and HVAC, roofing, electrical, auto repair). Each county of 20,000 or more residents gets a 0 to 100 score for how many established locations, with five or more employees, share its population. Passaic County scores 60.7, which is close to the middle of the pack.
Passaic County has two traits worth noting: it is a county made up of many sizeable towns, and it is a county where the headcount is flat or falling. Below, each measure is set against the full list of counties.
Percentiles compare Passaic County with all 1,822 counties of 20,000 or more residents: a percentile is the share of those counties with a lower value. Inputs: Census population estimates, the 2017 and 2022 County Business Patterns, income estimates from the Census Bureau and the Building Permits Survey.
The AI answer picture
Many towns, many questions: Passaic County counts 13 communities that clear 2,500 residents and 9 that clear 10,000, a larger spread than 95% of counties offer. A plumber in Paterson and a plumber in the next town over are separate answers, so GEO for a business that serves several of them means local content and consistent details for each.
Two other features of the Passaic County market matter here. Advice-led locations in Passaic County changed -7% from 2017 to 2022, slower than in 84% of counties.
When it comes to GEO in Passaic County, think town by town: each place deserves its own local content and consistent details.
Size matters for context: 513,395 residents put Passaic County 143rd among 3,143 U.S. counties, and the population has changed -2.2% since the 2020 Census. All industries together have 12,356 employer locations, or 24.1 per 1,000 people.
Outside any named place (a city, town or census-designated place) live 91,503 of Passaic County's residents (18%), and their questions often skip the town name entirely and ask for something "near me" instead.
The field an answer chooses from
Each row is one of the eleven recommendation categories: established locations (five or more employees) in Passaic County, how that compares with the typical county, how the category as a whole has changed since 2017, and how many locations are large employers.
Bars give each category's established locations (five or more employees) per 10,000 residents as a multiple of the middle county among those ranked; the dark tick is 1.0x. Change is measured on all locations in the category, not just established ones. Source: Census County Business Patterns (2017, 2022), which says nothing about AI behavior or search volume. Method
The busiest category in Passaic County is physicians offices, with 190 established locations at 1.7x the density of a typical county, with the category as a whole down 21.2% since 2017. More comparable names means more weight on the details that tell them apart. The next most crowded categories are law offices (60 established locations, 1.6x) and electrical contractors (67 established locations, 1.3x). The lightest field belongs to auto repair shops: 23 established locations, 0.5x the typical density, so an answer in that category has fewer names to weigh.
Residential remodelers added the most new competition, 16.5% more locations of all sizes than in 2017 (254 now). Physicians offices shrank instead, losing 21.2% of their locations to land at 404. Physicians offices account for the most large employers, with 35 locations at 20 or more employees.
These figures describe the competition, not AI behavior. No public data tells us how often people ask an assistant for a recommendation or how an engine picks among businesses, and we do not guess; the table shows how many established rivals share the answer space.
Housing demand
Bars show new housing units approved by building permits. Data: Building Permits Survey, county annual files, and a like-for-like year-to-date comparison. An approval is not a completed home.
Permits peaked at 1,186 units in 2022 and came in at 629 in 2025, roughly 47% lower. Even so, 2025 equals 12.3 units for every 10,000 residents, which is below 76% of counties. Year to date (January through August), approvals stand at 445, compared with 403 a year ago, a change of +10.4%.
The construction-linked categories with the most established competitors in Passaic County are electrical contractors (1.3x typical) and real estate agents and brokers (1.2x typical). New households arrive without providers they trust, and a business whose details already match across the places AI engines read is easier for them to find described.

Passaic County (60.7) looks most like Monterey County, CA, which scores 60.2. At the other extreme sits Northampton County, PA, scoring 55.9. One visible difference is firm size, with 6.2% of advice-led locations in Essex County, NJ at 20 or more employees against 4.1% in Passaic County. These are neighbors in competition only; they say nothing about what to expect from AI engines.
Communities
These are the biggest places in Passaic County. Someone asking an assistant about a provider nearby will usually name one of them, which is why plans for answer engine optimization (AEO) in Passaic County start with the towns on this list.
| City or town | Portion of the county | 2023 population estimate |
|---|---|---|
| Paterson | 30% | 156,452 |

The process
We review your address, name and phone details and your site information across Google, Apple Maps, Yelp and the other places AI engines read, so they all agree.
We implement schema markup on the pages that matter most: LocalBusiness schema, FAQ schema and Review schema, so AI engines can read your details as structured facts.
We write plain-language, hyper-local content that answers the questions people ask about your services and the places you serve.
Each month we test your visibility across ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews, then change course based on what moves. Reporting includes citations, AI visibility, knowledge panels, platform traffic and local rankings.
The parts of GEO
LocalBusiness, FAQ and Review schema
We add schema markup to your key pages, including LocalBusiness, Review and FAQ schema, so an engine can read your business details as structured facts.
NAP across every listing
We make your address, name and phone details agree on Google, Apple Maps, Yelp and every other listing engines read.
Hyper-local and conversational
Content is written in a conversational tone, aimed at the local questions customers actually ask, focused on Passaic County and the towns around it.
What customers say
Review volume and sentiment both get read by AI engines, so reputation work is part of the plan.
SEO underneath
The groundwork is technical SEO: pages that load, can be crawled and carry the structure the rest of GEO adds to.
Tested every month
Visibility is tested monthly in Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and ChatGPT, with reports on AI visibility, citations, platform traffic, knowledge panels and local rankings.
GEO sits next to our other work: local SEO, Google Maps optimization and, on the Gold and Platinum plans, a fully managed website. Want leads sooner? We also manage Meta (Facebook and Instagram), Google and Bing ads.
Check the math
Whether GEO pays off for you depends on your own figures, not a market average. Enter what a customer is worth and the plan you are weighing to see how many new customers a month cover it.
Pricing
There is no separate price for GEO, since each of the three Organic Growth plans below includes it. Plans are billed month to month, and there is no setup fee to pay. Ask our CEO which plan fits.
FAQ
The fee is flat and billed monthly, and GEO is part of the Organic Growth plans instead of being priced on its own: $1,495 for Silver, $2,495 for Gold and $3,495 for Platinum. RankGuarantee™ local landing pages cost $495 a month on their own and are included in all three. Cancel anytime: there is no contract and no setup fee.
According to the index, Passaic County sits close to the middle of the pack: it scores 60.7, which is 477th out of 1,822 counties of 20,000 or more people and 279th of our 400 markets. The busiest category is physicians offices, at 1.7x a typical county. The score describes the number of established competitors; what engines do with them is beyond what public data can show.
It means your address, name and phone number, and other details such as hours and services, read the same on Google, Apple Maps, Yelp and everywhere else an AI engine might look. The first step in our process is an audit of exactly that, because conflicting details make it harder for an engine to describe you correctly.
GEO is described as the next evolution of SEO, which is why we deliver the two together: the AI-focused work alongside technical SEO, landing pages and reviews. See the Organic Growth page for the full list.
Think of SEO as winning a place in a list of links and GEO as making your details usable to engines that answer directly. That covers Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and ChatGPT, and some people call it AEO. The two share groundwork, so Organic Growth includes both.
They are different things. GEO is unpaid work: helping engines find accurate information about your business. ChatGPT advertising is a separate, paid test: sponsored, labeled ads shown to some users on the Free and lower-priced plans, bought through a self-serve Ads Manager and targeted by country and context, not by keyword. Measurement is still maturing, and ads do not change the answers.
We cannot, and neither can anyone else. Our part is the groundwork that gives an engine more to go on: matching details on Google, Apple Maps, Yelp and the other listings, schema markup and local content. Engines gather and validate information over time, so there is no honest deadline. Every month we check Perplexity, ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews and send you the results.
Whichever places you work in. Passaic County has 13 places of 2,500 or more residents, led by Paterson, Clifton, Passaic, Hawthorne and Woodland Park. Content under GEO is hyper-local, and RankGuarantee™ landing pages (25, 50 or 100 a month depending on the Organic Growth plan) create a page for each service in each place you cover.
Reviews feed into it. Because engines scan review volume and sentiment, reputation work is part of GEO, plus Review, LocalBusiness and FAQ schema. No mention can be guaranteed, though a healthy, current set of reviews gives engines more to work with.
