Get results in days, not monthsResults in days, not monthsWhen someone asks ChatGPT, Perplexity or a Google AI Overview for a name, the answer comes from information the engine can find and trust. Plymouth County is a high-income market, which sets the terms for AI search optimization in Plymouth County. Below is the market data, then what GEO covers and what it costs.
The market in figures
AI Answer Competition Index
65.6/ 100
Ranked 347 among the 1,822 counties of at least 20,000 people, and 221 within our own 400-market set. A higher number means a more crowded field of established competitors. How the score is built
The AI Answer Competition Index covers eleven kinds of business that people ask an assistant to recommend: law, dental, medical, real estate, insurance, accounting, remodeling, plumbing and HVAC, roofing, electrical and auto repair. For each county of 20,000 or more residents it counts established locations, those with five or more employees, per 10,000 people. Plymouth County scores 65.6, which is more crowded than most.
The score is only part of the picture. Plymouth County is an affluent county, and it is also a county with many residents outside any named place. The measures below show where it stands against every other county.
Each percentile places Plymouth County among the 1,822 counties of 20,000 or more residents, as the share of them with a lower value. Built from: Census population estimates, County Business Patterns for 2017 and 2022, income estimates from the Census Bureau and the Building Permits Survey.
Reading the market
Plymouth County is an affluent market: median household income is $107,828, higher than in 96% of U.S. counties. Households with room in the budget tend to research before they hire, and some of that research now happens in conversation with an assistant, so complete profiles, strong reviews and in-depth local content are worth the effort.
Two other features of the Plymouth County market matter here. 401,600 residents of Plymouth County live outside any named place. 5.1% of the advice-led locations in Plymouth County have 20 or more employees, more than in 78% of counties.
What this means for GEO in Plymouth County: affluent buyers do their research, so complete profiles and substantial local content earn their keep.
Home to 535,308 people, Plymouth County is the 134th largest of 3,143 U.S. counties, and its headcount has moved +0.8% since the 2020 Census. Employers operate 13,304 locations here across all industries, roughly 24.9 for every 1,000 residents.
No single place dominates Plymouth County: the largest, Brockton, has about 20% of residents, and others include Bridgewater Town (28,818). An assistant asked about a service in one of them draws on local detail for that town, not for the whole county.
75% of the county, about 401,600 people, lives outside any named place, where "near me" and county-wide questions count for as much as a city name.
The field an answer chooses from
Every row is one of the eleven recommendation categories: established locations (five or more employees) in Plymouth County, how that compares with the typical county, how the category as a whole has changed since 2017, and how many locations are large employers.
Each bar shows a category's established locations (five or more employees) per 10,000 residents as a multiple of the middle county we rank; the dark tick is 1.0x. Change covers every employer location in the category, of any size. Source: Census County Business Patterns (2017, 2022), which says nothing about AI behavior or search volume. Method
Residential remodelers are the most contested category in Plymouth County: 81 established locations, 2.7 times the density of a typical county, with the category as a whole up 43.2% since 2017. A person asking an assistant which remodeler to hire has the most names to sort through here. Denser than usual as well: plumbing, heating and air-conditioning contractors (124 established locations, 1.7x) and electrical contractors (89 established locations, 1.7x). Room exists in accounting and CPA firms, where 22 established locations come to just 0.8x a typical county.
Residential remodelers are also the fastest-growing category, up 43.2% since 2017, so the field is still filling in. Physicians offices shrank instead, losing 19% of their locations to land at 162. Larger firms cluster in physicians offices: 32 locations have 20 or more employees.
Remember what a count can and cannot say. It tells you how many established businesses are in each category. It says nothing about AI mentions, search volume or timing, and nobody can promise a mention in an AI answer.
Where demand is heading
The permits shown are authorizations for new housing units. Data: Building Permits Survey, county annual files, and a like-for-like year-to-date comparison. Permits mark intent to build, not finished construction.
From a high of 2,489 units in 2021, approvals in Plymouth County dropped to 889 in 2025, about 64% less, and the 2025 rate of 16.6 per 10,000 residents is below 69% of counties. Year to date (January through August), approvals stand at 1,095, compared with 609 a year ago, a change of +79.8%.
The construction-linked categories with the most established competitors in Plymouth County are residential remodelers (2.7x typical) and plumbing, heating and air-conditioning contractors (1.7x typical). Rising permits bring people who need a roofer or an electrician and have no one to ask, and falling permits shift questions toward repair and replacement. Either way, accurate local information is what GEO works on.

The mix of firm sizes differs too: 7.9% of Virginia Beach, VA's advice-led locations have 20 or more employees, against 5.1% here. A similar score means a comparable number of established competitors, not a comparable result.
The parts of GEO
Markup engines can read
We add schema markup to your key pages, including LocalBusiness, Review and FAQ schema, so AI engines can read who you are, where you work in Plymouth County and what you offer.
Name, address and phone
Conflicting listings are found and fixed, so your details read the same on Google, Apple Maps, Yelp and beyond.
Answers, not keywords
Hyper-local content answers real customer questions in plain, conversational language, focused on Plymouth County and the towns around it.
Volume and sentiment
Review volume and sentiment both get read by AI engines, so reputation work is part of the plan.
SEO underneath
The groundwork is technical SEO: pages that load, can be crawled and carry the structure the rest of GEO adds to.
Tested every month
Visibility is tested monthly in ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews, with reports on local rankings, AI visibility, citations, knowledge panels and platform traffic.
GEO sits next to our other work: local SEO, Google Maps optimization and, on the Gold and Platinum plans, a fully managed website. Want leads sooner? We also manage Bing, Google and Meta (Facebook and Instagram) ads.
What happens, in order
We check your NAP details and your site details across Google, Apple Maps, Yelp and the other places AI engines read, so every source tells the same story.
We install schema markup on your key pages: Review, LocalBusiness and FAQ schema, so your business is described in a format machines read well.
We publish conversational, hyper-local content that answers the questions people ask about your services in your service area.
Every month we measure your visibility across Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and ChatGPT, then adapt the work to what we find. You see AI visibility, citations, platform traffic, knowledge panels and local rankings.
What it costs
GEO is not sold on its own: it is included in every Organic Growth plan below. Plans are billed month to month, and there is no setup fee to pay. Walk through the plans with our CEO.
Run your own figures
GEO is part of the monthly Organic Growth plans, so the useful question is how many new customers a plan has to bring in to cover its cost. Customers from AI answers, search and Google Maps all count, and nobody can promise any of them.
Questions
GEO is not sold on its own: it comes with every Organic Growth plan. Silver is $1,495 a month, Gold is $2,495 and Platinum is $3,495, with a fully managed, custom-built website added on Gold and Platinum. No setup fee, no contract.
Generative engine optimization (GEO) means optimizing your online presence for AI engines like Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and ChatGPT. Others use the term AEO, or answer engine optimization. These engines answer a question directly, pulling from structured data, business listings and trusted content. GEO is the next step beyond SEO and complements it; it does not replace it.
No contract and no setup fee: plans are flat-rate and month to month. We also work with one business per category in each city, so we will not set you up against a direct competitor of yours in Plymouth County.
More than most. Plymouth County scores 65.6 on our AI Answer Competition Index, placing 347th among the 1,822 counties we rank, and 221st within our 400-market set. Residential remodelers lead the field for crowding, at 2.7 times the typical county. Remember that the index measures businesses, not AI behavior.
It would be dishonest to promise an AI mention, so we do not. We aim for accurate, consistent information that matches wherever an engine looks. Results improve over time as engines favor consistent information, and we give no schedule. You see monthly test results from Perplexity, ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews.
Your name, address and phone number, plus details like hours and services, should be the same on Google, Apple Maps, Yelp and anywhere else an engine looks. The first step in our process is an audit of exactly that, since conflicting details make it harder for engines to describe you accurately.
No. GEO is the unpaid side: helping engines find accurate information about your business. ChatGPT advertising is a separate, paid test: labeled, sponsored ads that some users on the Free and lower-priced plans see, set up in a self-serve Ads Manager and aimed by country and context rather than keyword. The ads do not alter the answers, and measurement is still maturing.
Reviews are one of the signals. Because engines scan review volume and sentiment, reputation work is part of GEO, plus FAQ, LocalBusiness and Review schema. Nobody can promise an AI mention, but a healthy, current review profile gives engines more to go on.
It works, and several locations raise the stakes, because AI tools need consistent, verified information to recommend a service locally. Our audit checks that each address reads the same across every source engines use. In Plymouth County, 5.1% of advice-led locations have 20 or more employees.
